To Block Spam Calls from Unknown Numbers on WhatsApp

Nowadays we are receiving spam calls and messages on WhatsApp from different numbers. How come they got our numbers..? Are they monitoring our personal info..? Hacking our personal data..? This made us think like Back to the Future.

WhatsApp is one of the most wanted messaging apps, before we used to say SMS. But now trending as WhatsApp Me. Now over two billion active users worldwide. It offers voice call, voice message, video call these features to make everyone connect from anywhere at any time at @zero cost except the mobile data pack. But now this feature, came flexible for scammers to make spam calls/messages from international numbers starting with (+1-361, +967, +1-307 & more).

The spammers are collecting our data from the call center, social media, sharing our contacts on websites, to campaign persons, xerox shop, shopping center, lucky draw & more.

Recently faced this scam incident and like to share it to make aware of you. Received a message in WhatsApp from a youtube channel promoting an agent from Delhi. They offer a part-time job is to watch the requested youtube videos from a particular channel and hitting Like. The payment will be done thru Gpay, transfering to my account. Here I got aware and block the number (+91 94000*****). I would suggest having 2 numbers, one is for official & another personal+bank (not to share anywhere).

While currently, there is no way to STOP receiving spam calls on WhatsApp, one thing you can do for some intermittent relief is silence calls from unknown numbers. So, keep reading to learn how to silence calls from unknown numbers on WhatsApp. But the feature to silence spam calls from unknown numbers is available only for select WhatsApp beta users. We expect WhatsApp to roll out this feature for general users soon. That said, here’s how you can silence spam WhatsApp calls:

Silence WhatsApp calls from Unknown numbers on Android:

1. Open WhatsApp on your Android phone.

2. Here, tap the “three dots” icon at the top right corner. Then, select the “Settings” option in the drop-down menu.

3. Now, locate and tap on the “Privacy” settings option.

4. Now, move to the “Calls” option and enable the “Silence Unknown Calls” toggle to avoid spam calls on WhatsApp.

It's done. Now calls from unknown numbers on WhatsApp is silenced and will not be notified.

Silence WhatsApp calls from Unknown numbers on iOS:

Features on silent WhatsApp calls are the same in both Android & iOS, but it's slightly different in iPhone.

1. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone.

2. Here, tap the “Settings” icon at the bottom right corner.

3. Now, locate and tap the “Privacy” settings option.

4. Next, open the “Calls” menu and turn on the “Silence Unknown Callers” toggle.
